Linda Meckem will be teaching third grade this year. Beginning her 14th year in education, this year will also be Linda’s 8th year teaching third grade. She graduated from Central Missouri State University (currently University of Central Missouri) in 2006 with a dual degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. Linda is certified as both a Reading and Library Media Specialist. She graduated with her Master’s in Literacy from Missouri State University in May 2020.
“There’s no such thing as a kid who hates reading. There are kids who love reading, and kids who are reading the wrong books.” James Patterson
Basically born and raised in Plato, Linda was adopted at 3 days old, is an only child, and grew up active in my church and the Plato community. After college, Linda moved to Lebanon where she met and married her husband, Dave, in 2008. In April 2014, they moved to Plato to be closer to her parents. Linda is also a full-time caregiver for both of her elderly parents. The Meckems have a son, Gunnar, who will be 10 in December, and a daughter, Carlee, who turned 5 in May! They are the center of Dave and Linda’s world.
In Mrs. Meckem’s classroom, she has high expectations and believes all students have the ability to succeed and grow. She incorporates technology into ALL subject areas. Her students will work hard but have a lot of fun while doing it. Understand that while she is the teacher, and she is there to help your child learn, Linda is also here for her students and parents as individuals and as a family. She wants everyone to feel safe and comfortable in her classroom at all times.
