Linda Meckem is our Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Grant Management this year. As she begins her 15th year in education, Mrs. Meckem will be coordinating the district’s DODEA grant and coaching teachers in curriculum and instruction. She graduated from Central Missouri State University (currently University of Central Missouri) in 2006 with a dual degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. Linda is certified as both a Reading and Library Media Specialist. She graduated with her Master’s in Literacy from Missouri State University in May 2020. Mrs. Meckem has taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades.
“There’s no such thing as a kid who hates reading. There are kids who love reading, and kids who are reading the wrong books.” James Patterson
Basically born and raised in Plato, Linda was adopted at 3 days old, is an only child, and grew up active in my church and the Plato community. After college, Linda moved to Lebanon where she met and married her husband, Dave, in 2008. In April 2014, they moved to Plato to be closer to her parents. The Meckems have a son, Gunnar, who will be 11 in December, and a daughter, Carlee, who turned 6 in May! They are the center of Dave and Linda’s world.
Even though she won’t have her own classroom this year, Mrs. Meckem continues to have high expectations and believes all students have the ability to succeed and grow. She incorporates technology into ALL subject areas. Students she will work with will work hard but have a lot of fun while doing it!
