Plato Career and Technical Education (CTE) classes hosted Mr. and Mrs. Peter Herschend today. Mr. Herschend serves on the State Board of Education. The Herchendโs told their remarkable business story and encouraged students to follow their dreams and persevere to reach their career goals. The Herschendโs visited the following CTE classes: Entrepreneurship, FACS, AG, Bio Medical Science, Yearbook/Journalism, and JAG. They also visited elementary classes, including Miss Amyโs class to learn about the amazing Kindness Connection Program. CTE students had the opportunity to share business plans, their Portrait of a Plato Graduate Portfolios, as well as ask questions and receive feedback on career oriented subjects. Mrs. Herschend even became an expert in tying a Trinity Knot with students in JAG! Entrepreneurship students ended the day by taking the Herschendโs through the process of designing and making a t-shirt in the Eagle Store. Thank you to Mrs. Metzler for organizing the day, Mrs. Breedlove and FCCLA for the wonderful lunch, and the following: Mrs. Cantrell, Miss Gifford, Mr. Sperry, Mrs. Amy (Hathaway), and all of our wonderful students!

What a great way to experiment with prisms, mirrors, and magnifying glasses! Students were successful at transferring the sun's energy and catching a piece of cardboard on fire. See video on our Facebook or Instagram pages. โถ๏ธ
โ๏ธChemistry students learned how energy is transferred from the sun to Earthย via electromagnetic waves, or radiation, and that most of the energy that passes through the upper atmosphere and reaches Earth's surface is in two forms, visible and infrared light. The majority of this light is in the visible spectrum.
